It’s a very exciting time in Australian society, the lucky people of the Australian Capital Territory are one step closer to accepting that love never fails, and love knows no boundaries.
From December 1 same sex marriage will be an institution in the ACT. Pending a constitutional challenge which may have happened by the time you read this.
Same sex marriage is different to marriage, in that two people of the same gender can only enter same sex marriage, and people of different genders can enter marriage. It’s like a men’s toilet and a women’s toilet. Both toilets, but for different people. (Please do not at all accept the toilet analogy as anything more than the first analogy I thought of).
Within days I will be a registered ACT same sex marriage celebrant and can start accepting bookings for weddings from December 1.
Couples wishing to be married in the ACT under the same sex marriage laws only have to see their celebrant, like me, and submit their notice of intended marriage to their celebrant. Though these details are still being released by the ACT government to their celebrants.
